A recent report in the Providence Journal suggests that more and more baby boomers are turning to cosmetic surgery treatments as a way to stay competitive in their professions. According to the report, patients have cited the desire to stay competitive in a tight job market as their main reason for seeking out cosmetic treatments such as face lifts, neck lifts and eyelid rejuvenation. This is a trend that I have certainly seen in my practice, and it is not limited to female patients alone. Since 2008, there has been a steady increase in the number of male patients who come to my office for advice on how to combat the aging process. Business women and men do not like that colleagues and clients have told them repeatedly that they look tired. They also see themselves as being passed over for promotions due to their aging issues. They stressed to me that they feel these promotions are going to their younger, more energetic-appearing colleagues.
