Last week, our trivia question asked Facebook users to name the number one non-surgical cosmetic procedure performed in the U.S. last year. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure in 2012 was botulinum toxin (e.g., Botox, Dysport), with 3,257,913 procedures performed. Rounding out the top five non-surgical treatments were hyaluronic acid treatments (e.g., Juvederm, Restylane, 1,423,705); laser hair removal (883,893); microdermabrasion (498,821); and chemical peels (443,824).
Non-surgical cosmetic procedures may be good treatment options for individuals who show early signs of aging, or for those who may not be good candidates for aesthetic facial surgery. These non-surgical cosmetic procedures appeal to many of our male and female patients who desire the minimal downtime associated with temporary treatments.
