Re-cap on the 2016 Plastic Surgery The Meeting in Los Angeles - Patrick Sullivan, M.D. Skip to main content

Itâ€s in the books for Plastic Surgery The Meeting 2016 / #PSTM16 – The worldâ€s largest gathering of plastic surgeons and surgical medical professionals. The site of this yearâ€s gathering was in Los Angeles, California, at the Los Angeles and Exhibition Center.
All education sessions were in full force starting as early as 7:00am on Friday, September 23rd and ended at 7:00pm. There were also additional meetings, receptions, and events throughout the long week-end and into the final day on Tuesday, September 27th. Aside from the jammed packed sessions, it was wonderful seeing some old and meeting new colleagues.
This year, I was invited to be on a moderator and speaker on a panel of experts that included Brian Kinney, MD, FACS, Ivona Percec, MD, Rod Rohrich, MD, FACS.  We discussed:
-Face and Neck Module – Part 1: Surgical and Non-Surgical Approaches to the Face and Neck: Whatâ€s New, What Works, Complications and How to Avoid Complications.
My specific presentation was on the topic of: “Facelifting combined with fat injections to give the best and most natural enhancements of the face and neck.† My presentation also introduced the Silhouette Instaliftâ„¢ (the no-knife face lift with resorbable suture-cone devices) to many of the plastic surgeons attending. I asked the packed audience of attendees with hundreds and hundreds of plastic surgeons that were filling the seats and standing in the back how many of them had performed this procedure and only a few raised their hands. We were told by the ASPS organizers that they gave us the largest room at the convention center with 3 jumbotron screens as they thought it would bring in the largest audience. They said the attendance by plastic surgeons who stayed for the full afternoon even exceeded their expectations.
We then had a Video Session: Controversies with Facelifting: SMAS, Redraping, Incisions, the “Natural Look” – Presented by Dr. Steven Levine in New York. I was asked to be the discussant of his work. It brought out some significant differences on approaches that seemed to be of great interest to the attendees given the comments after the session.
With over 3,000 attendees from all over the world, Plastic Surgery The Meeting is the worldâ€s largest gathering of plastic surgeons and surgical medical professionals. I was truly honored to be a part of this yearâ€s exciting meeting and share my knowledge, experience and expertise with my fellow colleagues.
