Although this symposium concentrated more on breast, my presentation focused on the face “Artistry and Innovation in Plastic Surgery:  The Maxwell Effect.”  I have been inspired and influenced by Pat Maxwell, MD, his artistic approach, his teaching and his incredible 45 year history of contributions to our field.  During my presentation I discussed progress we have made with facelifting and contouring combined with fat injections with their associated stem cells and how we have applied the principles of artistry and innovation to the treatment of the eyelids, face, and neck.   We feel this approach will ultimately give each patient a very natural and optimal improvement. Other plastic surgeons who were invited were from Sweden to Israel.  Friends from the United States in attendance included:  Bill Adams, MD, Mary Gingrass, MD, and Pat Maxwell, MD’s newest partner, Jacob Ungar, MD.
Aside from the scientific program, we were gifted with amazing seats to the Grande Ole Opry at the Ryman Auditorium.  The evening was topped off with a special unexpected guest – the Grammy award-winning American country singer and song writer Garth Brooks.  He had just received: “Entertainer of the Year†at the Country Music Awards two days earlier.  It was truly an incredible night.
