Men’s cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures grew in 2010 with face lifts in particular rising 14%, according to statistics released recently by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). The ASPS found that the 10 fastest growing cosmetic procedures among men were surgical, which goes against the trend that has been present for the past several years. Other noted trends in male plastic surgery include eyelid surgery (up 4%), breast reduction surgery (6%), otoplasty (11%), and liposuction (7%). Non-invasive procedures, such as botulism toxin A (up 9%) and soft tissue fillers (7%) also increased during this time period.

Our male cosmetic surgery patients tend to be professional gentlemen who want to look and feel good about their appearance. Most of these patients have characteristically maintained a healthy lifestyle and are in good shape medically. We also have a number of male patients who come into our office for non-surgical treatments, such as Botox/Dysport and fillers (i.e., Juvederm). For these men, the minimal downtime associated with these temporary treatments is desirable.
